Every month, PAJE features an individual whose journey embodies purpose, artistry, and faith. This August, we spotlight DeiNavi—a Jamaican-born worshipper whose music ministry is more than melody—it’s mission. In the first of a four-part series, DeiNavi shares how it all began: a quiet, persistent knowing that her life was meant to echo God’s heart. Her story is one of renegade obedience, clarity, and surrender—a journey not shaped by comfort, but by God's calling on her life. Let’s dive in.

A Calling That Disrupts
There’s a kind of obedience that doesn’t always look like compliance. It’s disruptive. It’s countercultural. It’s renegade. For DeiNavi, that’s exactly what her calling has required—radical surrender, without fitting into the mold - in all aspects of her life.
In the quiet moments outside of stages, lyrics, and studio sessions, she always knew she was called. “The calling has always been there—through a prophecy my mother received while I was still in her womb.” But living it out wasn’t immediate, nor was it easy. The responsibilities of adulthood, marriage, and community living often competed with the weight of her assignment.
A Journey That Has Always Been Different
Her journey has always looked different. While others followed familiar paths, she often found herself going against the grain—saying what others hesitated to say and doing things in ways that challenged industry norms and religious expectations.
“I’ve never really conformed or fit in,” she shares. “But God has used that to keep me grounded. Every detour, every pause, was part of His pruning—preparing me for what’s ahead.”
Though she intermittently tried to take a more ‘normal’ route—climbing the corporate ladder and honing digital skills—God had other plans. By April 2025, it became undeniable. It was time to fully embrace what He had always called her to do.
Righteous Indignation - Gone Wrong
DeiNavi doesn’t shy away from the missteps in her journey. She admits she’s had to learn the balance between obedience, hearing God’s voice, and leading with love.
She recounts a pivotal moment when, as Youth Group President, she removed the sanctuary clock during praise—an instruction she felt was from God, to remove time-based distractions from worship based on the current state of the church she was attending at that time.
Things were going well until two young members remained disengaged. Acting on impulse, she called them out in front of the congregation. That moment soured the atmosphere and ushered her into a season of persecution.
Looking back, she owns the mistake.
“I knew what God told me to do. And I felt the shift in the spirit. But pride took over. And that tainted what could’ve been powerful and purposeful.”
It was a sobering lesson: even when operating in divine instruction, God's work must be handled with care, reverence, and humility.
She says that season was pivotal because it showed her that it's very easy to step out of the will of the Lord even when He instructs you to do something and has given you grace and leeway to do it. His things must always be stewarded properly and responsibly.
Defining Shifts: Reflection, Repentance & Reconnection
Throughout her journey she has been led into multiple seasons of repentance. All raw, uncomfortable - but necessary.
“I couldn’t carry unforgiveness, malice, or spiritual fatigue into my next season with God.”
There were seasons of wrestling—over identity, sound, and purpose. But especially in her most recent time of repentance and reflection, when deliverance came, it felt like light flooded her soul.
“It felt like the Lord reintroduced His light to my heart—and life hasn’t felt the same since. That breakthrough became the doorway to revival—personally and creatively.”

The Mission Behind the Music
She now understands: not everyone will “get” her sound or methods. And that’s okay. She’s not for everyone. But she is for the ones God is sending her to.
Her journey is now anchored by truth. Scriptures she leans on include:
Matthew 5:16 – Let your light shine before others…
Colossians 3:23–24 – Do your work as unto the Lord.
John 15:5–6 – Abide in the Vine; apart from Him, we can do nothing.
“Those verses keep me grounded. They remind me that everything I do must flow from my relationship with Christ. That’s the root. That’s the why.”
What pushed her into the public eye wasn’t fame—it was the conviction that her voice had to reach where others remain silent.
“I’ve always wanted my music to reach the overlooked, the ‘problematic,’ the abused. There’s a loophole in society that facilitates victim-blaming. Too many are left angry and alone instead of encountered by God’s love.”
Today, her mission is clear: to reach the broken, the “too difficult,” the forgotten. She believes her music is for the ones many dismiss as a lost cause.
“Now I know—the things I’ve walked through and the messages I’ve received aren’t for everyone. But for those it’s packaged for? I’m coming for them.”
Final Words
DeiNavi’s journey has not been linear or convenient. It’s been marked by tension, pruning, and grace. But above all, it’s been guided by obedience—raw, radical, and sometimes renegade.
She hopes that her sound and lyrical expressions will help to be a consistent reminder for listeners navigating deep pain, loneliness, identity struggles, and spiritual doubt - showing them that God redeems, restores and revives.
This first installment of DeiNavi’s four-part journey reveals a woman who didn’t stumble into purpose—it was divinely written.
