Isaiah 40:31
“But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”
Waiting isn’t easy. In fact, it’s often the hardest part of life’s journey—especially when we’re tired, discouraged, or desperate for breakthrough. But Isaiah 40:31 offers a promise of power that comes not in striving, but in stillness. This verse reminds us that those who wait on God will be renewed, empowered, and sustained in ways human effort can’t produce.
Waiting on the Lord means putting your hope and trust in Him—not passively, but with expectation. It’s the posture of someone who believes that God is working, even when they can’t see it yet.
In a culture obsessed with speed and instant results, God invites us to slow down and trust His perfect timing. He’s never late, and He never wastes our waiting.

God doesn't just give us rest in waiting—He gives us renewal. This is more than physical energy; it’s a deep, spiritual strength that lifts us from discouragement, fear, and weariness. The Hebrew word for "renew" also means to exchange—as in exchanging our weakness for His power.
When you wait on God, you’re not drained—you’re being refilled.
Eagles soar higher than any other bird, riding the wind rather than flapping in exhaustion. This image is powerful: when we wait on the Lord, we rise above our circumstances, lifted by the strength He provides—not by our own effort.
Waiting doesn’t keep us grounded; it prepares us to fly.
God doesn’t only give strength for the big, soaring moments—He gives endurance for the everyday journey. Whether you’re running through a season of purpose or simply walking through a slow, painful process, His strength sustains you.
He equips you to keep going even when your natural energy runs out.
Isaiah 40:31 is a promise to the weary, the waiting, and the worn. If you’ll choose to wait on the Lord—not with passivity, but with hope—He will lift you, strengthen you, and carry you through. You won’t just survive the wait—you’ll soar.
