In this second week of feature on Nigela, we explore the story behind her journey as a gospel artiste and minister. Discover how her encounter with faith reshaped her path from secular music to Caribbean gospel, the defining moments that confirmed her calling, and the powerful ways she uses worship to overcome challenges.
Let’s dive into the heart of Nigela’s mission and purpose as she continues to inspire through her music and ministry.

PAJE: What inspired you to begin this journey? (as a Coach, Artiste, Author, etc)
Nigela: I started off by singing secular music but after finding Jesus, a friend, now a Pastor (Delvin Forde) introduced me to music from Papa San, Sherwin Gardner, Issac Blackman and Jadee. I instantly gravitated to the Gospel soca, dancehall and reggae. Hearing their Caribbean fusions with Gospel was an eye opener that I could use my gifts in my style to glorify God.
PAJE: What made you realize that this is definitely the path you're supposed to be on?
Nigela: I am grateful for the Pastoral covering that shaped my spiritual upbringing in St. Lucia. My spiritual fathers are adamant on teaching purpose in Jesus Christ. We are not just meant to work as 9-5, pay bills and that's it. Once I began to seek God's face concerning understanding my particular purpose in life, He provided revelation. I understood that worship is a part of my calling and the songs He allows me to write are to give people hope.
PAJE: Share a defining moment or breakthrough in your journey.
Nigela: The way I got saved was quite unique. A childhood friend, now Dr. Amanda Louis, had invited me to come to a crusade. I gave my life to Christ when the guest Pastors, a husband and wife from Jamaica, gave the altar call. I had no idea who they were. A few years later, I was invited to minister at the Barbados Gospelfest, and the event promoter was introducing the artistes to each other backstage. I saw the Jamaican Pastor who had given the altar call, I had responded to . and was introduced to him, as Papa San. Papa San had given the altar call that had changed my life forever.
PAJE: How has your purpose or calling evolved over time?
Nigela: God has broadened my horizons and my thinking, and has allowed me to minister in various Caribbean nations.
PAJE: What’s one experience that confirmed you’re doing exactly what God called you to do?
Nigela: Receiving my first Global Award (ABGMA) brought about a sense of confirmation that I am on the right track.
PAJE: What has been your biggest faith test and how did you overcome it?
Nigela: I've had various battles walking on this Christian journey. I don't think we realize how powerful worship is. There would be times when I am so discouraged, then I listen to gospel songs that speak the opposite of my negative thoughts. I start to sing and praise , raising my weapon of warfare, and God moves through my faith to shift my atmosphere.
What a journey!
